Cookie Policy

A short policy, because this is a short list. This site carries no advertising, runs no third-party analytics, and sets no cookie that follows you anywhere. What is left is the handful of cookies without which a signed-in session would not work.

  1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep and send back on the next request. It is how a site remembers anything between one page and the next — most usefully, that you are the same person who signed in a moment ago.

  2. Our position

We use cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to function, and nothing else. That is a deliberate choice, and it has a consequence worth stating plainly: because we set no non-essential cookies, there is no consent banner on this site. A banner that asks permission for cookies we do not set would be theatre.

If that ever changes — if we add analytics, for instance — we will ask for your consent before setting anything, and this page will change first.

  3. The cookies this site sets

    CookiePurposeLifetimeType
Authentication sessionKeeps you signed in as you move between pages of the academy's private area, and lets the server refresh your session securely. Set only after you sign in.Until you sign out, or the session expiresStrictly necessary

The public pages — the ones you are reading now — set no cookies at all. You can browse the whole of the public site without one.

  4. What we do not use

    • No advertising or retargeting cookies.
    • No third-party analytics — no Google Analytics, no equivalent.
    • No social media tracking pixels. Our Instagram link is an ordinary link; following it takes you to Instagram, on Instagram's terms.
    • No cross-site tracking, and no sale or sharing of browsing data.
  5. Managing cookies in your browser

Every major browser lets you see the cookies a site has set, delete them, and block them. Look under Privacy or Site settings in your browser's preferences.

  6. Server logs

Separately from cookies, our hosting and database providers keep ordinary server logs, which include IP addresses and the time of each request. They exist so that faults can be diagnosed and abuse of our forms can be stopped, they are not used to build a profile of you, and they are covered by the security and retention sections of the Privacy Policy.

  7. Changes to this policy

If we add a cookie, it appears in the table above before it is set, and the date at the top of this page changes.
